Pytani is a daughter of the stallion Calvados (Uriel x Ibrahim).

Calvados was bred from the best French performance bloodlines. His sire, Uriel, has been the leading sire for several years. Uriel contributed to French breeding through his 26 sons and he produced more than 100 international showjumpers. Calvados, himself, won the National Stallion Competition in France as a 4 year old. In 1993, with Peter Geerink in the saddle, he was Reserve Champion of the Netherlands. Although Calvados has bred on a limited scale, he has produced over 7 offspring who have won Grand Prix and World Cups.

Her grandsire, Legaat (1970 - 1996) (Marco Polo x Sinaeda), was the absolute Champion of his Stallion Test, having received 8.5 for his free-jump and a 9.5 for his jumping under saddle and an 8 for temperament. Legaat is a keur stallion with 6 approved sons and was high on the index of stallions in his time.

Pytani was imported from Holland in 2001 and is a breeding mare. She is a beautiful moving mare; is suited also for dressage. She was chosen for her freejumping technique. At the stud is her son, Crescendo (b. January 2003) by the Skyhigh stallion Celerity Park Starlight.
